The Saint John Free Public Library is seeking applications for part-time, student positions at the East Branch Library.
DUTIES: Reporting to the Library Manager, the focus of these positions is the shelving of materials, shelf reading, assisting with library programs, and assisting staff with routine library duties. This positions will involve some lifting.
QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to possessing the necessary skills and abilities needed to perform the above noted duties, candidates must be at least 16 years of age, and currently be enrolled in high school or post-secondary education. Volunteer or paid library experience and experience working with the public would be an asset. Family members of Saint John Free Public Library staff and/or Board Members will NOT be eligible for consideration. Written and spoken competence in English is required.
The successful candidate, if 18 years of age or older, will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check cleared for working with the vulnerable sector.
EQUALITY OF OPPORTUNITY FOR EMPLOYMENT
HOURS: This is a part-time position from September 2016 until end of May 2017. Applicants must be available to work alternate Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and alternate Saturdays. On average, each student would work 8 hours per week.
